Cutting tips produces "offsets"
(above) To propagate your plants simply cut & root a tip. The remaining column will grow 1, 2, 3 or even more new tips. (below) The Peruvianus is sprouting 4 new tips. Only the front two are visible. Warning: only take cuttings during the warm, dry periods of Spring & Summer growth. During the winter the pant's immune system is dormant. Taking cuttings then can easily cause infection & rot to kill the plant.
Each of these tips can be harvested, planted and rooted to become new specimens with all the vigorous characteristics of the parent. Even seedlings can offset. When this one had a tip removed last fall (to use for a graft) the column was only finger sized. It has increased in diameter while sprouting two new tips.
